The Tower of London
What is your favourite city? mine, without a doubt is London, in England. One of the most important cities in the world, with a metropolitan area that contains more than eight million people.
One of the most representative monuments of the city is The Tower of London, the Medieval castle and fortress which nowadays stands in the middle of the so called "city of London", the financial district of the British city.
Do you know any of the legends that surrounds the tower?
One of them is about the ghost of Anne Boleyn, who was executed in the Tower accused of high treason against the king Henry the eighth, her husband. Some of the guards that work in the tower said that they have seen "Anne`s ghost" around the tower grounds at night...scary, isn't it?
By the way, do you know the the tower guards? they are the so called beefeaters, a special group of men who were part of the royal guard.
Beefeaters are members of the army who had worked as soldiers for many years and before retiring, apply to be royal guards in the Tower of London.
Another story has to do with the crows living in the tower. A leyend says that British monarchy will end the day the crows leave the Tower, so you must imagine that they take good care of the crows!
The thing is that this fascinating castle has been part of the British History and will surely give us many stories for the future, don't you think?
